After 8 years of running Slackware Linux, we have begun running our own Linux distribution.  Although we love Slackware and will forever be a fan of one of the best all around Linux distributions for desktops and servers, it was time we rolled out our own distribution.  We named it SimpleOS.  Lightweight, scalable, flexible and speed was all a factor in the design.  Ease of security updates and package additions is much faster with our push technology to our server fleet.  After two years running, we have experienced more satisfied customers.  Customers have noticed the gains in speed and higher uptime rates.  SimpleOS is standard on all hosting plans, shared web hosting and dedicated servers alike.

     M3's Tuned Linux Servers

With our vast experience as primarily a web hosting company, we have tuned every aspect of our server software for speed and reliability.  Starting with Apache  we have tweaked the config file for a dramatic improvement in server load, response time and amount of simultaneous web users per machine.  Sendmail has been tuned to fight spam, provide less waste of junk mail and made connections more stable and secure.  We provide legacy FTP service as well as Secure FTP for your choice and security.  With services like SSH, transferring files is a snap and your terminal connections to the server are secure.  Our tuned Linux servers go beyond just speed talk, we also focus on user options and ease of use.

     Server Standardization and Spare Parts

Although we do purchase servers from various vendors, we primarily use Dell for our standardized fleet of machines.  This enhances our uptime by decreasing downtime due to hardware failure.  We have spare parts for all types of machines in house, ready for use if problems arise.  Something will happen during the life of any system, we are prepared for it by stocking spare parts per server model, including hard drives, ram, cpu/motherboards, and most importantly power supplies.  We even go as far as having an entire server ready to receive a backup image and customer files for rapid restore of service in the event of a total system failure.

     Monitoring and Maintenance

Introducing A.d.a.m. (Automated Digital Assistant Manager).  Adam resides on many servers, yes he monitors himself, working 24/7 to ensure your server is always running at peak performance.  We invented Adam nearly eight years ago.  Adam samples our servers' services every five minutes.  With our sophisticated monitoring system, we have early warning in the event of a service overload or failure.  In most cases Adam makes an adjustment based on history and conditions that restore services to optimum levels.  Other times he may just alert a human technician for needed RAM or storage drives.  Adam is always evolving to improve the service to our customers and the health of our server fleet.
